HUWAG MAGING DAYUHAN SA SARILING BAYAN
2025

"Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan" (Do not be a foreigner in your own country) embodies nationalism, cultural heritage, and identity. This installation features 33 souvenir mugs, each printed with a letter from the phrase, reminiscent of tourist mugs adorned with Philippine landmarks. Each letter contains photographs from my 2023/2024 trip, reflecting moments of reconnection and cultural memory. The work explores belonging and how souvenirs shape collective memory by transforming a familiar souvenir into a fragmented yet unified message.
